Christmas is such a busy period, we all know that. It’s not only about cleaning, shopping and cooking but also making sure the time is as stressful and relaxed as it can be. We often invite guests to our homes and this can be stressful on its own. As much as we want them to enjoy the stay and have a really nice time during Christmas, this also can be sometimes difficult when you are not prepared. So today, I have created few ultimate tips for having guests at home this Christmas. From their stay at yours to outdoor entrainment! All stress-free!
take it easy.
I think this is the easiest advice but honestly, take a deep breath and relax. If you are stressed, everyone else will be stressed. So pause for a second, recalculate your options and make sure you are ready to have guests at home. Once you determined that look into other aspects of what you need to make sure everything will go smoothly.
place to sleep
First most important part is organising your guest’s place to sleep. Make sure your spare bedroom is clean and tidy and has a fresh set of bedding and spare towels for your guest. If your guest is staying on your sofa, make sure she/he can close blinds and before you call a night, you get all essentials from that room so you don’t need to go in there in the middle of the night. Prepare extra blankets and pillows for your guests in case if the night gets more chilly. Perhaps a spare pair of socks and woolly jumper on the side. Some people are just too shy to ask. Leave easy access to side table lamp and perhaps a nice book on the side if they have trouble to fall asleep.
dietary
These days many people face allergies as well well as follow trick diets. It’s worth to ask your guests if they have any so will save you loads of stress while cooking. Nothing worse than serve huge turkey on a table while you have a vegetarian or vegan person, having an extra veggie dish would save loads of uncomfortable situations. Same as having a portion of gluten-free pasta or lacto free milk for coffee.
make plan
Sometimes our guests are visiting our city for the first time and believe me, as much as you think you know the city well, during Christmas can be so stressful with so many things happening and is easy to miss some fun events. Sit down with a pen and paper and write down dates of your guest’s arrival and leave date. Check local newspapers, shopping centres like Liverpool One to see what’s happening in the city. With Liverpool One you and your guests can really #GetChristmassy and tis the season as it’s so many fabulous things happening. Christmas markets can be a very fun day to spend the time too, and most local places will organise numbers of fun entertainments so make are you have the addresses, dates and timing written down. Some of the amazing attractions in Liverpool include Christmas on the Park, Bar Huute and my Favourite Liverpool Ice Festival. Make sure you book ice skating and go to Ice Bar too! Also you can watch films in The Residence, take part in Christmas countdown with prizes or even take park in Lego Workshop. Make sure you book your guest’s Christmas Dinner in advance to avoid disappointment. My absolute recommendation is Marco Pierre close to Waterfront! The food was delicious and atmosphere fantastic!
Check your local Metrolink, buses and roads closers timing. This is so important during Christmas. When you pick up your guests from the airport or when dropping them in, you don’t want to be stuck in road works or be left stranded in cold bus stop, check the Christmas timetables.
