Where to stay in Sri Lanka? Find best hotel in Galle!

Going to Sri Lanka was a last minute adventure. You would think, that planning such a trip takes a month as there are so many things to think of like injections, visas or places to stay. Sri Lanka is located in the Indian Ocean and is an island country of South Asia ( just below India on the map). We have booked the trip 2 weeks before flying there, so it was a very last minute decision.

A quick search on the internet about current injection situation, I learned that these are not required unless you planning to stay for longer than 2 weeks and planning backpacking. If you staying in hotels, then these are not required ( however advised) You can get your visa online ( currently 2019 around $25). Read more about my Sri Lanka adventure.

We had a bit of a problem finding the right hotel but Loveholidays came to rescue and we found our dream hotel! Loveholidays is a fantastic website where you can easily book all-inclusive hotels. You have also quick options filters whether you wnat to book for couples, family stays or adults only. Saves you time, going through many websites and independly trying to find a great hotel. All hotels are displayed with revie raiting for you to quickly find best hotel you can stay at. We decided to stay at KahandaKanda in Galle province and it was best decision ever.

The hotel is located right in the middle of jungle with monkeys jumping on the trees. especially after the rain. Most rooms has own pool with a view over jungle. It’s real paradise. This is a boutique hotel with 12 individual Villas ( all different). They offer a real luxury experience and with all honesty and I have never seen a better customer service as in this hotel. All staff was attentive, yet discreet as sometimes staff can be overwhelming in some places but they were excellent. A real 5 star service.

To get to Galle Fort only takes a short trip by Tuk-Tuk( which is on its own another fabulous experience ) as well as plenty of things to do around from visiting the local beaches, tea plantations to experiencing Stilt Fishing.

We stayed at two Rooms in the hotel as we wanted to experience the secret garden of Hellaconia Room with its own pool as well as Hibiscus with it’s own infinity pool overlooking the Jungle.

Helliconia room was such a fantastic experience. Secret garden with its won pool as well as open outdoor showers. We loved that so much. The room was equipped in everything you needed from all sanitary to towels, hairdryer etc as well as mosquito sprays. Room service was available 24h and was amazing to get late night wine and enjoy a drink over the pool. A pure magic experience.

Another room we loved was the Hibiscus. it was a very large room with also 4 posts bed and infinity pool but we got a bath in large bathroom wth to separate basins for him and her. The infinity pool was purely amazing. We never felt closer to nature as ever before.
