How to Stay Stylish When Exercising
Exercise and gym culture have absolutely blown up in the last ten years, with millions of us breaking a sweat at least a few times a week as we look to stay healthy, happy and looking and feeling good.
Of course, whenever an industry explodes like fitness has, brands are quick to react, and these days working out seems to just as much about the fashion as the exercise itself. So, in a world of ‘gym bros’ and fitness influencers, what can you be doing to make sure you’re looking good while keeping fit?

Layer Up
In the modern world of top to toe, skin-tight lycra, adding layers is a great way to keep you feeling comfortable, as well as offering an adaptable solution for whatever exercise you choose to do. I love my loungewear set and it’s great not only for exercising but also looks so stylish.
Adding a light jacket or a looser fitting top over a sports bra will help keep you warm at the start of your workout, and then you can layer up or down as your body temperature and modesty dictate. Of course, if you’re exercising outdoors, you’ll need the layers just to survive!

Fit is Important
Looking good is one thing, but having the confidence to simply go out and exercise is a challenge in itself for us girls.
Especially for women, gyms can be daunting places, not to mention our idea of what we should look like is warped by the ‘thinspiration’ we see all over social media, so it’s important to feel good in your gear, and how it fits plays a major part in that.
Long gone are the days of super baggy t-shirts and jogging bottoms, enter now sports bras and high waisted leggings. Too small, and your gear will be unflattering and uncomfortable. Too big, and you’ll feel like a kite in the wind as you run.
Get the sizing right however, and you’ll feel great. Modern exercise wear is built to contour and enhance all sorts of body shapes, which should give you the motivation to keep working when you look in the mirror.

Fashionable but Practical Footwear
Footwear’s an interesting one. It needs to be fit for purpose, but for most of us the look of our shoes is just as important as how they perform.
Luckily, brands are well aware of this and have developed their products accordingly, so whether you’re looking for a cushioned running shoes, a stylish pair of horse riding boots or some sleek football boots, you should be covered.

Stay Safe with Opaque
Word of warning: you know those sheer leggings you thought were OK to put on for your workout? Yeah, well the lighting in the gym is a tad different to that of your bedroom, and all those spotlights can leave you offering a little less to the imagination than you intended!
Opaque designs are your safest bet in the gym. Not only will you avoid any lighting mishaps, but you also be able to work up a sweat without people noticing, meaning you can exercise in confidence.
Plus, you can find some awesome prints and designs to suit your style, meaning you can customise your gym look down to a tee.
