Why Thailand is the ideal vacation destination for everyone

Far from the sole refuge of gap year students and honeymooning couples, Thailand is the holiday destination with something for everyone. So, if you’ve been on the fence about paying a visit, allow us to push you over that fence.

The food 

Thai restaurants are growing in popularity across the globe for a good reason – it’s remarkably fragrant, healthy cuisine that hits the perfect middle ground between Indian spice and Chinese flavour. If you’re one of the millions of Thai food lovers who have yet to actually sample  authentic Thai cuisine though, you really need to try it from the source. Street food in Thailand is not only affordable – it’s exceptional too and the spices and colours of the food are like nowhere else on earth.

The weather

Even in January, it rarely dips below 20C in Bangkok so if you’re somebody that loves to be warm all the time Thailand might be the ideal climate for you. The vast majority of buildings are also air-conditioned, so you can have it both ways if you ever feel like the heat is a little too much.

The locals

You will meet some of the most accommodating people in the world on your travels in Thailand. The tourism economy is booming and they are typically, as a result, always happy to help and even translate for you if you’re struggling with the local language.

The location

Thailand is the ideally located ‘hub’ location for a larger Southeast Asian adventure. You’re just a few hours from Hong Kong, Singapore and Bali and Bangkok is a stone’s throw from Laos and Vietnam. That’s why Thailand is such a popular first stop for students on their gap years hoping to ‘see it all’ before real life kicks in. The nightlife

Whilst Bangkok is perhaps one of the most infamous cities in the world for its decadent nightlife (and trust us, you will have a great time) it’s further afield that the real magic happens. If you haven’t heard of the infamous ‘full moon parties’ before then treat yourself a quick Google. If you’re under the age of 30 and are not enthused then you probably never will be.

The cost

The vast majority of the cost of any holiday to Thailand is the travel fare. Once you’re actually there, everything is incredibly affordable. For the equivalent of a few quid you’ll get a slap-up meal just about anywhere in the city and to hire a private room for the night you’ll be looking at perhaps a tenner a night. Even a luxury apartment in downtown Bangkok will only set you back a few hundred a month tops. On a backpackers budget, meanwhile, you can probably get away with spending only around £30 a day!

The history and the culture

Finally, whilst Thailand is an increasingly modern country, there is history and rich culture everywhere you look. From the ancient Siamese ruins to the raft of art forms and dancing performances you’ll find scattered up and down the country – if you’re a culture vulture then a Thailand holiday is perfection!
