The COVID-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on all of us. Alongside impacting our social lives and ability to see family, COVID has meant that many of us are stuck indoors, trapped within the four walls of our home.
It’s not all doom and gloom though. For young families and couples, the move to working from home or being furloughed would have provided the opportunity to spend more time together. Despite our best efforts, modern-day life can be intense and we often forget to relax and spend time with our loved ones amongst our busy schedules – being home for long periods of time has probably helped address that a little.
The only downside to spending lots of time indoors is that it can be difficult to ignore the areas of your home which need a little TLC. So, with that said, in this quick article we’re going to take a look at which household space you will want to upgrade first once lockdown ends.

Kitchen
It’s important to begin with the basics and as home improvements go, getting a nice, practical kitchen is the top of every homeowner’s list. Kitchens are the heart of the home and for good reason. We spend hours each day cooking, cleaning up and – if you have a kitchen-diner – eating within this room. That time might reach double figures over a week, pushing to 40+ hours a month solely spent cooking, cleaning and eating in your kitchen. In reality, it’s probably even more than that!
So, considering you spend so much time in that space and how important the kitchen is for running a household effectively, you should prioritise upgradi9ng it when it needs some attention. You can opt for a bespoke kitchen installation service if you want to handpick your kitchen décor and build it from the ground up or, alternatively, choose from an already prepared choice and aesthetic.
Just remember, it’s your space, so make sure you’re going to be happy with the result before you invest.

Garden
If you’re lucky enough to have a garden then with any luck, you will have been able to spend more time in it this summer. Outdoor spaces are great for individuals and families alike, especially when you’ve been stuck inside working all day. In fact, there are plenty of studies and statistics which show that spending time outdoors and in nature can do wonders for your mental health, something that will only become more important as we continue to fight COVID-19.
With that in mind, if you have a garden that’s looking a little drab or dreary, improving it a little could be a great long term investment. This is even more true if you think you might want to move house soon as front gardens play a major role in convincing people to buy a house – this is because of curb appeal.
Regardless, if you have a garden, it’s worth making it look nice.

Office/Working Space
Finally, it’s important we talk about working from home. Working from home probably won’t end after the COVID-19 pandemic, it will only get more popular. Businesses are realising that they can operate well without the need for a physical office, meaning they can save money on rent and fees. As technology gets better, remote working will only thrive.
Considering this, ensuring that you have an attractive and comfortable home working setup or office space is really important for the future. Invest in a nice desk and whether you work from your bedroom or your living room, give it a lick of paint and some new furniture so that it helps you stay productive and engaged.

Hopefully, this will have inspired you to make a few home improvements for the future once lockdown ends. Please remember to stay safe and hopefully, we’ll be able to develop a healthier work-life balance over the coming years.
