I love my outdoor space. I can say without a doubt, that my garden is my favourite area of the house – a place to relax, unwind and enjoy the rays of sunshine… even if the latter only happens for a couple of weeks every year… but let’s not talk about the lovely English weather today.
Because I adore my garden space so much, it’s always exciting to find new ways to give it some love and some well-needed attention. If you are anything like me, I’m sure you will love these garden trends – let me know in the comments below if you are thinking of trying any of these.

1. Modern Pergolas.
Traditional pergolas are stunning additions to any garden but only offer some shade with their lattice roof. To achieve complete shade, plus protection from rain, modern pergolas are the go-to. Modern retractable pergolas by Designer Shade Solutions are any garden’s must-have. These allow you to enjoy your garden no matter the weather, offer added privacy and increase your home’s value, what else do you really need?
These modern pergolas feature a retractable and tilting louvered roof that can open when the sun is shining or close if rain starts to pour down, providing you with the perfect outdoor structure to enjoy your garden, patio or terrace no matter the weather. Imagine being outside in the rain but actually being covered and enjoying your favourite book while breathing in the fresh air, sounds wonderful to me!

2. Shades of Blue.
Adding shades of blue to gardens is predicted to be one of the top trends for this year say the National Association of Landscape Professionals. Their experts “predict these tones will influence the design of outdoor spaces this year” from adding water features to planting blue flowers such as blue fortune, delphinium, hydrangea.
3. Say hello to wildlife.
“No matter the size of your garden, you can welcome wildlife with a little bit of food and water” mentions this article on Adventure of a Yorkshire Mum. Whether you add a small pond for animals to drink water or a bird feeder for birds to come and visit your garden, there are plenty of ways to welcome wildlife and help them get their basic survival needs.

4. Make it shine.
Make your outdoor space shine and glow by adding some outdoor lights. You can install some spotlights to give more emphasis to your favourite parts of the garden or simply add some lights all around the garden to make it shine all year round! My favourites are definitely outdoor fairy lights, they give any garden a special touch!

5. Add some extra colour.
Make your garden standout by giving it more colour. You can repaint your garden fence, give your garden shed a new coat of paint or simply plant some colourful plants around your back garden. This article on My Pinstrosity Life also recommends planting some fruit plants and veggies for some home grown deliciousness!
