As many people may know over the past few years the introduction of vaping has changed the way that many people across the UK smoke. Although it is still harmful, vaping has proven to offer a number of benefits to smokers when compared to normal cigarettes. Even though many people now smoke using a vape, they are still unaware of the laws that surround vaping in the UK. If you are new to vaping, or are just unsure as to what they are, then here are the laws on vaping in the UK.
Age restrictions
The first law that should be noted is the law regarding vaping and age restrictions. UK Vaping Laws state that anyone who wishes to buy or smoke a vape must be over the legal age, which is set at 18 years old. When you buy a vape in the UK you must be able to provide a form of identification that states your age. This allows the person who is selling you the vape to see if you are over the age of 18 or not. If you are under the age restriction that has been put in place, your purchase will be refused.

Public areas
Unlike laws surrounding cigarettes, UK Vaping Laws state that there are currently no legal restrictions regarding vaping in a public area. Although there is no legal restriction, many public areas such as parks, public squares and children’s playgrounds will have their own rules regarding smoking and vaping, seeing as these areas are usually shared between many different people. Visitors of these public areas must check to see what these rules are and must follow them to avoid causing any problems.
Bars and restaurants
Just like the laws surrounding smoking indoors in the UK, when it comes to vaping inside a premise the rules are the same. Across the UK, smoking and vaping inside a bar or restaurant is forbidden. Most bars and restaurants have a designated outdoor smoking area for smokers, although if you vape inside the premise, you will be asked to leave. The same rules regarding vaping in a bar or restaurant also apply to many other indoor facilities. Some of these indoor facilities include the gym, shops, libraries and even cinemas.
Public transport
Across the UK, vaping is not allowed on any form of public transport. Therefore, if you are on a train, bus, or airplane, you are not allowed to vape of smoke. Vaping has been banned on public transport for a number of years now, and many public transport providers feel strongly about this law. So, if you are planning on making a journey you should be aware that you will not be allowed to vape while onboard.
Hopefully from this guide you are now aware of the laws that surround vaping in the UK. So whether you live in the UK, or are just visiting, you must make sure that you follow and abide by these laws.
